Shatha Abbasi serves as VP/Internal Auditor at First Bank. She plays a key role in the Audit Department, where she is responsible for ensuring compliance, evaluating internal controls, and supporting risk management initiatives across the organization.
Shatha joined First Bank in August 2013 as Teller Supervisor at the Somerset branch, which was the bank’s fifth location at the time. In 2018, she transitioned to the Audit Department as a Senior Staff Auditor and has since advanced to her current leadership role. She brings 16 years of banking experience, having started her career in 2009 as a teller at Capital One Bank before moving to First Bank.
She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems and Programming (CIS) from the University of Jordan in Amman. Shatha has also completed extensive professional training, including the Audit Certification Program through ICBA’s Community Banker University, compliance school through NJBA, fraud prevention certification from ABA, and is currently pursuing an Anti-Money Laundering (AML) certification from ABA. She is an active member of the NJBA Audit Committee.
Among her career achievements, Shatha was honored with the NJBA Rising Star Award in 2023. Outside of work, she enjoys interior design and has a passion for creating beautiful, detail-oriented spaces.
